To My Daughter with Love plot
Joey Cutter (Rick Schroder) is a poorly paid carpenter whose wife Alice (Megan Gallivan) has to update to support the education of their daughter Emily (Ashley Malinger). Joey's humble existence is turned upside down when his wife suddenly dies and he threatens to lose his daughter. He also loses his job. He agrees to let his in-laws take care of Emily, assuming they can provide her with a better life. However, he soon starts to miss her and tries to get the child back under his wing.
