Confessions of a German Soldier plot
Documentary about a young German woman's search for her grandfather's grave and why he fought with the Nazis as a vicar in the 1940s and was killed on the Eastern Front, while he was under Hitler's regime in the 1930s fought. Together with cinematographer Tony Wilson and historian Gabriel Fawcett, she travels through Europe in search of her grandfather's grave and answers to her questions about the strange turn in his life. The result is a personal and moving story about resistance and collaboration in the Third Reich. The film shows what life was like under the Nazi regime for people who instinctively resisted it, and why ordinary, civilized Germans allowed themselves to be seduced by the Nazis into fighting an inhumane war.
