The Deadly Tower (1975)

It was actually quite a good and certainly exciting film at the time. Especially because the film is based on true events, it was all quite impressive. The story is well put together and captivating, and the cast did a pretty good job too. The role of the very young Kurt Russell as Charles Whitman was particularly impressive.

Regarding the discussion concerning gun laws in America, I can add this: isn't it strange that this gun legislation has existed for a very long time, but that these mass shootings only started becoming increasingly commonplace relatively recently (around the 80s and especially the 90s)?

The Dutch Andrea Steinmetz worked in a Texas prison for just under a year and wrote a book about it. One aspect that emerged was the fact that a significant portion of the prisoners were mentally disturbed to varying degrees. Add to this the fact that many facilities for the treatment of the mentally ill had been closed since the 1960s, leaving those who needed treatment to their fate on the streets and inevitably coming into contact with the justice system more frequently.

The gun laws are not the core problem, it is the mentality of America itself, the 'me, me, me, and the rest can rot' attitude.
