Rijssens Stille Oorlog plot

'Christians who do not adhere to the true faith are simply pagans', says the manager of the Reformed bookshop in Rijssen in Overijssel. Belcampo grew up in the SGP stronghold and in his book 'Het Grote Gebeuren' called it the only municipality that is as untouched as on the day of creation. Yet among the nearly 30,000 inhabitants, there are now about a thousand Muslims. The extent of the gap between them and the 'true faith' will become clear during the 2010 municipal elections, in which the Turk Sahin Yilmaz has a good chance of becoming the first Islamic councilor. Some of the original and import Riessen residents are followed during their daily lives. While the imam preaches freedom of religion and his co-religionists emphasize the similarities between Christianity and Islam, some Reformed views Islam as an alien heresy.
