Skye, who survived the drama of the first film, goes in search of her mother, the woman who abandoned her as a baby and thus barely knows her. Her search takes her to the quiet village of Mill Basin, where she meets her mother Carolyn. She is married to a wealthy real estate developer and has a daughter, Alex. Skye feels very much at home there, and as her friendship with Alex progresses, she meets Alex's manipulative friend Zoe and her dream boy James, who aspires to be a DJ. Skye tries to keep the dark secret about her father a secret, even from Alex. However, Zoe suspects something.
