Foute Vrienden plot

Burnt Herman, Red Jos, Dikke Bobbie and Jantje van Amsterdam are blood gabbers. Director Roy Dames has been following the men since the early 1990s. They are part of the Amsterdam penose, a culture that is disappearing. Their old familiar life changes, more radically than expected. After years, Dames brings the friends back together in Amsterdam East. The men have lost a lot in twenty years, but the friendship and genuine Amsterdam humor have remained. Just like the many beers and joints.

Good documentary about four Amsterdam friends who are followed over a period of more than 15 years. An entertaining look into the personal lives of four rather colorful characters. Filmed raw and both funny and deeply sad. Easily 3.5 stars.

Beautiful portrait of four Amsterdam blood gabbers, followed by director Roy Dames since the early 1990s. Lots of ups and downs, especially downs, enjoying the men's hilarious language and the bizarre events they've been involved in over the years. Picturesque figures you call these kind of people, great. There is now also a sequel in the form of the three-part series '25 years of bad friends'. Seems great to me too.
