Ave Maria plot

Former concert singer Karin Twerdy works at a nightclub to pay for her daughter Daniela's education in a convent school. One day she gets to know the industrialist Dietrich Gontard, whose son also lives at the school and pays a visit like her. As Karin and Gontard get closer, their children also become a couple. But after Gontard hears about Karin's professional occupation, he indignantly rejects any permission for the children's marriage. In order not to stand in the way of her daughter's love, Karin falsely pretends her own death.
