"What was the most eloquent word uttered in the language of the desert?"
Barbara Worth teams up with Holmes to reclaim the desert-like soil and make it suitable for irrigation. Willard, Holmes' foster son, falls in love with Barbara. With this he causes a conflict with Abe, Barbara's foreman, who also has his eye on her. A dam is built, but the developer turns out to be a crook when he refuses to further strengthen the dam if it becomes weak. After all, he already has his money in and he doesn't need the dam. The outraged community turns against Barbara, Abe and Willard as the dam continues to weaken.
