From the early 1970s through the 1990s, the Philippines was a popular fallback base for B-movie producers. The country had low labor costs, exotic locations, and few laws that hampered filmmaking. And this while during this period the country itself suffered from a very tumultuous political period. The result was a whole series of genre films that more or less had the wild, chaotic and raw energy of the country.
