La Ultima Mirada plot
Homero is a successful artist from Querétaro. In his late 40s, he learns that he has inherited a rare eye condition in which the primary colors gradually disappear and eventually become completely blind. He accepts his fate but does not want to part with the painting that has brought him so much in life. Homero tries to keep in touch with life by adopting a stray dog, talking to prostitutes, and memorizing lyrics to recite to his blind father. In order to properly store the texts in his memory, he takes reading lessons from the beautiful nun Irma, whom he immediately falls in love with. At the same time, 17-year-old Mei is abandoned by her mother, a well-known prostitute at the China Galleon. Her mother has moved to the United States and her daughter works as a servant in exchange for food and shelter for her and her grandparents. For some extra income, she starts doing odd jobs for the prostitutes and falls in love with a handsome young shop assistant. Later, when Homero is almost completely blind, a sympathetic taxi driver offers to take him to the China Galleon where he meets Mei.
