"China's Warriors for the Environment"

'The Rainmakers' is an investigative journalistic documentary about the decline of the Chinese environment, told in portraits of four citizen activists who no longer want to accept the demise of their world. On the verge of heroism and stubbornness, these four idiosyncratic Chinese citizens - a fisherwoman on the bank of a polluted river, a rice farmer under the smoke of a chemical factory, a shepherd on a spur of an advancing desert, and a dancer in the shadows of metropolitan garbage incineration - why they dare to fight against the petulant and sometimes aggressive local authorities, against the tide.
