The Next Victim plot

During a blistering heat wave, Londoners leave the city en masse and American Sandy Marshall is left almost alone in her apartment block when her husband is called for a business trip. Sandy is in a wheelchair after a car accident and unsuspectingly lets a murderer disguised as a delivery man into the building. When she remembers that a number of women have been found strangled recently, it is already too late and she must escape the building. However, the phone line is cut and someone is downstairs.
