Rigas Sargi plot
November 11, 1919 was a crucial date in the fight for Latvia's independence. The First World War had already ended for a year, but there were still some German soldiers in Latvia, including General von der Golz. He was aided by the Russian Colonel Bermont, and they attacked Riga with an army of 50,000 men. Latvia's army, on the other hand, consisted of only 11,000 men, but managed to hold back the Germans.

A historical film from Latvia with a fantastic eye for detail. The uniforms and sets are fantastic. The somewhat frivolous character of the film, as well as the patriotism, I found less. It makes it a bit lighter, but works against the historical credibility. It is difficult to say whether this is a Latvian trait, but it bothered me.
The patriotism feels bitter. Where the Latvians turned against the Germans in 1919, many reached out to them in 1941...
