Kyatapirâ plot

Lieutenant Kurokawa returns in 1940 after the Second Sino-Japanese War as an honored and decorated soldier, but robbed of his arms and legs by the battle in mainland China. All the hopes of the villagers and Kurokawa's relatives go to Shigeko, his wife. She is to honor the Emperor and the homeland by being an example in fulfilling her duty to care for 'God's soldier'.
