The cattle barons 'Chalk' Reynolds and Walt Payne have driven most of the small farmers out of the Ruby Hills territory. Fighting has now broken out between the two for sole supremacy over the area. Reynolds' leader of the gunfighters is Frank Emmett and Payne's hired gunfighter is Jack Voyle. Both are known as ruthless killers. In the valley of Ruby Hills drives Ross Haney, who has just obtained the water rights: a legal action that Reynolds and Payne have overlooked. Haney soon finds out that a third party also wants to take control of the Ruby Hills: Robert Vernon and his sister Sherry of the 'Double V Ranch'. Sherry falls in love with Haney, who appears to be facing an armed clash between the Vernons and Reynolds and Payne's gunfighters.
