Isabelle is a single woman, living lonely in the big New York. She works in a bookstore and the people she meets there are the linchpin of her life. Her grandmother, however, thinks that Isabelle has to make love and arranges for a Jewish matchmaker to find her a suitable man. As a result, she is introduced to the nice yet simple Sam, who immediately thinks she's great. However, Isabelle doesn't like being coupled.
