Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Chikai plot
This film is a sequel to the earlier 'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni', which is set in a different reality. Rena (Airi Matsuyama) kills a prostitute and her pimp who tried to blackmail her father. Rena is caught by Keiichi (Goki Maeda) and her friends while trying to dump the bodies. Keiichi is initially offended that she didn't immediately come to her for help, but decides to keep the murders a secret, just like her other friends. Rena gets information from Detective Oishi that helps her solve the mystery of Oyashiro-sama. Like Keiichi in the first film, she becomes paranoid and doesn't trust anyone anymore. However, Keiichi recalls feeling trapped in a similar mental state in the parallel world (the first film). Remembering how easily he betrayed his friends in that reality, he decides to protect Rena whether she wants to trust him or not.
