Sukezo Sukegawa was once a celebrated draftsman, but the publishers no longer want his work. The loss of fame has paralyzed Sukegawa. To the annoyance of his wife and son, he has become a powerless good-for-nothing. With the stubbornness of a madman, he persists in an absurd way of making money: he sells stones.
