Passionately made documentary in which you are informed in chronological order of the Flemish Horror Cinema. From then until recently. Directors and people involved from the entire oeuvre are given the floor and each know how to tell interesting, fun and funny anecdotes about their projects.

Could have had a longer running time. Considering all genre films are discussed, 96 minutes feels a bit short...

So it's great to hear that at least a second part, about Walloon Horror Cinema, is on the way!

A very nice documentary for the enthusiast, including me!

Unfortunately, the editing is a bit sloppy, for example, the stills are on screen for too short a time to be taken in properly by the viewer. Also, in my opinion, the editing could have been a bit smoother in terms of interviews. For me, the playing time felt too long.

In addition, this documentary focuses too much on recently made films, which in my opinion do not really fall into the 'Forgotten' category...

And of course Feremans is completely out of step among all the relevant interviewees...

For the fans this is a reasonable low-budget documentary. From this perspective a big pass, but certainly no more.

A film for and by the lover of juicy horror cinema shot in Flemish fields and estates. We get the improbable stories behind (rightly or wrongly) forgotten films, told by the film people themselves.

At the same time, this amateur and insider approach is also the documentary's downside. You learn almost nothing about the films in question: we are thrown in with a few scenes and the makers are already allowed to start telling about the history of their creation. Everything is also thrown together: supernatural horror and slasher films, unashamed exploitation and auteur films and well-intentioned hobby projects. Moreover, I don't need to see the making of every fart that Johan Vandewoestijne alias John Desert has ever let out. A stricter selection would have freed up some time to go deeper into a number of the films, and why exactly the makers wanted to make a horror film. Because it is their love for horror cinema and their twinkling eyes when they are allowed to show their creations that hold this documentary together.
