Freddie Mercury, the Untold Story plot
"The legend and the man"
Documentary about lesser-known aspects of the life of Freddie Mercury (1946-1991), the flamboyant singer of Queen, who died of AIDS. In addition to interviews with Freddie's mother and sister, the documentary also features conversations with Brian May and Roger Taylor, Peter Freestone (his personal assistant), Mary Austin (his one true female lover and lifelong friend), Jim Hutton (his last life companion) and opera singer Montserrat Caballé (with whom he had a special relationship). They talk freely about his passion for music, but also about his youth, homosexuality, the last days of his life and his death. The result is a portrait of the person behind the artist Mercury, a man with enormous drive, full of energy, passion and joie de vivre, but also very insecure and vulnerable.
