Jermal plot

Anyone who works on a fishing platform (a jermal) does not just get off it. Jaya is a twelve year old boy. His father is the big and clumsy Johar, the boss of the platform, who doesn't want to hear anything from him. He doesn't actually recognize him as his son. Jaya just has to do the same slave work as the other guys on the platform. The boys form a tough group with a violence-based pecking order, where Jaya is initially not tolerated. However, the boy is smarter and better educated than the rest and when he discovers that his writing skills are needed, he has taken his place.
