In respect this was quite a creditable Horror / Thriller whose story is perhaps too ridiculous for words, but the execution is actually quite successful.

As the title implies, this film is about children, and it is about the children of the two families who get together for Christmas holidays. Those children will pull the blood under your fingernails and they do so literally when they suddenly attack their parents without any explanation. From that moment on it becomes quite a nice creepy film (also a nice atmosphere) that knows how to captivate and maybe also a tad exciting. I also thought the ending was quite successful. The cast is not much, but because the children are so annoying and irritating, they do reach the maximum in this film. Incidentally, Eva Birthistle (as one of the parents) and Hannah Tointo (one of the children) were allowed to be there and partly because of them, the film also looked nice.

All in all just a creditable British Horror / Thriller which looks away nicely and the latter partly due to the short duration of only about 80 minutes.

Good.

Totally unexpected that I came to like this so much, but in this case I was a bit too guided by the general score and sounds. You should just ignore it because The Children has become a very atmospheric and entertaining film. Very nice concept again, but risky.

Risky because children are not exactly the scariest threat. They aren't scary here either, but I thought Howes as Paulie was pretty creepy here and there. That boy could look very angry, that sometimes gave me the shivers. Furthermore, it is mainly in the direction that it gets pretty creepy at times.

It is certainly atmospheric, although it takes a little while before the horror really comes into play. If it comes then it will be fine. The direction ensures that the situation becomes quite frustrating, chaotic and even creepy. It's not that bad in terms of bloodshed, but that it's children vs adults should be shocking enough.

Now it's not really palpable that the parents are in conflict because they are facing their children, which is a shame because that really could have been the touch. Other than that, it's pretty frustrating in a good way. Visually taken care of, sometimes it just could have been a little faster. The kids will never be very scary, but the effort is certainly there.

Nice movie, doesn't last long and it has a nice concept. The ending may be a downer, but I didn't find it that disturbing. Anyway, I got through it quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice thing this.
