Don't Let Me Drown plot

Lalo and Stefanie are two teenagers in Brooklyn. Lalo comes from a family of Mexican immigrants who are struggling with financial problems. His father is cleaning up the rubble of the collapsed World Trade Center. Stefanie's sister died in the attack. Her mother tries to keep the family together, but her father can only show anger. Lalo and Stefanie meet and fall in love after a false start.
