Pianist, composer, conductor Reinbert de Leeuw, aged 78, has devoted his life to modern classical music, from Schönberg to Oestvolskaya. Now, having reached the curve of his life arc, he turns and stretches out his arms to Johann Sebastian Bach, to the St Matthew Passion. Filmmaker Cherry Duyns follows Reinbert de Leeuw from the first rehearsal days with orchestra, choir and soloists until the performance in Amsterdam's Nieuwe Kerk.
