When Frank and Angela and their two children are evicted from their New York apartment, they have no choice but to enroll in a homeless shelter. After a few difficult months, there is finally good news: A home is available with immediate effect. The condition is that Frank has a paid job. As everyone gears up for a Merry Christmas on Christmas Eve, Frank and his 10-year-old stepson scour the streets of New York in search of a job before the day ends.
