Trial by Fire plot

Kristin Scott is wrongfully held responsible for her father's death. He had just retired as captain of a fire department. Since she is the only female firefighter in her brigade, this provokes wrong reactions from the other firefighters and so she resigns. To prove herself, she takes on the challenge of undergoing grueling training as a smoke jumper. This is part of the firefighting system that has paratroopers from airplanes jump directly into the flames to fight them from the inside.
