Tom Gerrin, a 75-year-old widower, goes to live with his son and daughter-in-law. He is quickly annoyed by the patronizing way in which he is treated. In protest, he does the very things his children are afraid of. To make matters worse, he also meets young Leanne on her way to her parents in California.

TV drama about retired widower Thomas [Jack Lemmon] who is tired of being patronized by his children and decides to look up an old love in the hope of finding a purpose in life again. He accidentally meets a young woman [Sarah Paulson] who becomes his companion. Things get more complicated when Thomas' children report him missing.
This predictable drama about the generation gap and the fear of an uncertain future offers little new, but it does rise above mediocrity somewhat. On the one hand, that is due to the presence of veterans Jack Lemmon and Betty Garrett, but certainly also to the chemistry between Lemmon and Paulson. As a result, this is a perfectly watchable trifle with a simple, well-intentioned message.

Mediocre film about an older man who, due to circumstances, travels through the country hitchhiking with a younger woman. As the title might suggest, this is a road movie (which was clearly made for TV). The events seem somewhat forced. It is nice to see a young Sarah Paulson and Jack Lemmon rarely disappoints, but neither of them really manages to save the film.
