not entirely successful attempt at putting a twist on the whole zombie thing.

But not completely failed either, '

The opening intro sounds like a James Bond LSD bad trip intro, with a fair amount of blood.

That promises something for the horror lover.

But after a strong start you have to wait about 45 minutes before it really takes off.

And then it's okay, although the gore usually isn't really shown that much.

But it does feel threatening.

There are some side tracks to the how and why, which are a bit far-fetched,

And at the end a lot is explained, but it is mainly a cry for a sequel.

Which is actually worth a try, it almost feels like an open ending,

but that's customary in the Genre of course.

A fun concept and a particularly stylish opening set the tone early on in The Evil in Us, which also makes a splash with its beautiful poster before the film opens. Unfortunately, director Jason William Lee doesn't do much with it after that. It takes too long to get going, and the cast isn't very convincing. Furthermore, the film, visually speaking, feels somewhat unfinished and bare. The second half scales back more with graphic violence and pace, but even those elements are too tame to support the overall concept. A potential future remake of this whole thing might not be a bad move.
