Andy Serkis and especially David Tennant both deliver strong performances in a film that brings us a little closer to the work of Einstein and also of the "unknown" Eddington, but also pays attention to their private lives and especially underlines the relationship between science and war.

Good movie.

Nice film in which a new theory of Albert Einstein is confirmed by an astronomer. A historical film about the theory of relativity that takes place with the First World War in the background. The alternation between the two characters/storylines works fine. The private lives of both gentlemen are less interesting, and the film is at its best when it is about science.

A bit of a TV movie, but a really good one - made according to the old BBC traditions as far as I can remember. Serkis may not look all that much like the 'real' Einstein, but that is hardly possible, and his efforts make up for a lot. Furthermore a fine cast with Tennant in the other title role, and Rebecca Hall as his sister.

The story is fairly faithful to the real events, and presents them in an interesting way - although the demonstration with the bread is a bit too explanatory. Still, it is interesting to learn a little bit about the life of an unknown physicist who was so instrumental in proving Einstein's theories, and who also discovered a number of important parts of quantum physics. Perhaps there will be a movie primarily about him at some point, there is certainly enough material for that I think. But until then, this movie is a nice introduction.
