Den Nya Människan plot
It is 1951, when Gertrud (Julia Hogberg), the eldest child of a large and poor family, is sent to an asylum. People of all walks of life live in this government institution, who balance on the margins of society for various reasons. The reason for her admission is not entirely clear to Gertrud, however, all young women are obliged to remain in the home unless they agree to be sterilized. When Gertrud's homesickness begins to build, sterilization seems the only way out, but is it worth the self-sacrifice?
