Nick Van Alstyne owns the Henrietta silver mine and is incredibly wealthy. His son Bertie is naive and spoiled. His daughter Rose is married to shady investor Mark. Mark destroys Bertie's wedding plans by blaming him for Mark's illegitimate child.
