De Dream plot
The Dream is the love story of Wiebren Hogerhuis (Peter Tuinman) and Ymkje Jansma. What was to become reality for her, was for him a passing infatuation. When Ymkje is rejected, the lie is her revenge. During the tumultuous court hearing, she states that she recognized Wiebren as one of the burglars at Haitsma's farm. The comrades from the socialist movement also desert the Hogerhuis brothers, because the real perpetrators are part of that movement. Will the brothers ever succeed in proving their innocence?

The film has its moments, but has not quite stood the test of time. As Verhoeff also reported tonight, the film lacks some dynamism and speed.

A Frisian film from 1985 and quite a grand production for that time. The story is also fascinating about three brothers who are innocently arrested and given a political trial as socialist propaganda, while being betrayed by their socialist colleagues. But as a film it is unfortunately all much too static and boring. It is also all filmed far too distantly and reminded me of an old-fashioned TV game. (level Zwiebertje) The important emotion is therefore hard to find in this film. Better films were already made in 1985, that's for sure, but Dutch film has also experienced a lot of positive development in the many years that followed. That becomes clear again with this film.
