Mattie is a widow who lives alone in a Florida pine forest. She has money, but never goes to town, never sees other people and lives her day just as her husband would have lived. Sometimes Trax comes along, a small player in the bootleg business with hopes of becoming a big one someday. One day, he brings a very young woman to Mattie's house, with the aim of making her his mistress. But on business he has to leave and he leaves the women behind in the forest. It's now up to both women to make the most of it.
