A Hungarian bum (Jack Lord) named Lipa meets the attractive Mickey (Susan Strasberg) as he walks through the desert, along the highway. Mickey owns a gas station, one of the last in the desert, which she runs with her mother and her two sisters. They invite Lipa to stay and he agrees, unaware that this family is made up of psychopaths.
