The spy story is a web of conspiracies and a lot of petty characters. Easy to follow, but still confusing with all those characters. However, it is not really exciting and the story itself does not really captivate. A plus is the gray 70s atmosphere with a number of nice locations. George Segal is okay in his role, but it is a pity that Cristina Raines gets little interpretation in her role.

5/10

Just watched the German DVD of this, unfortunately it turned out to have only a German audio track in 4:3.

This is one of those movies that I saw on TV in the first half of the 80s and has stayed with me forever, but that you probably shouldn't watch again after all these years.

The film is somewhat chaotic and babbling on and on for the first hour and is not very captivating, also because it lacks the necessary momentum and tension and the action is only in the last twenty minutes.

Segal in the lead role does well and the other cast including Elliot, Jackson and (Oscar winner) Fletcher seems impressive, but in practice this is very disappointing, because in fact they are all no more than meaningless bits and pieces.

Not very bad, but nowhere above old-fashioned TV level.

A five, or 2.5 star.
