Orion: The Man Who Would Be King plot
Just before Elvis Presley's passing, Gail Brewer-Giorgio writes a book about a popular singer named Orion who goes mad under the pressure of his celebrity and fakes his own death. After Elvis's death, his record company capitalizes on the wild rumors and stories that are circulating, thanks in part to Brewer-Giorgio's book. They contract a singer whose voice is very similar to that of the late King and have him record and perform in a face mask. Thus the "Elvis lives" myth is born and perpetuated. The actual man behind the mask is Jimmy Ellis. This is his real story; because who was the man posing as the resurrected Elvis?
