"Death is catching."
A girl lives in a very strict Christian community, but really wants to leave the small town to see the big outside world. But before she manages to leave, a number of residents of the village suddenly die. It doesn't take long before people start to suspect that the girl has something to do with these bizarre cases.

This is definitely not a bad movie.
My preference always goes out to nice scary horror movies. That's why I picked this one. Original story, some famous actors/actresses, why not?
I found the story itself very original.. Seems like a scary feeling.. That you see yourself before you die.. and more importantly.. How you die. Yeah, that alone gave me the creeps. This was also very well depicted in the movie.. It looked good!
Elizabeth Rice.. Never seen before. Cute face, can't act badly at all.. Yes, I would like to see more of her. Also the famous daughter of Bruce Willis did not do badly, even better than Elizabeth.. But then again, it's in her genes of course. Too bad you don't see much of her in the film.
Multiple films made about it.. The fact that an entire village/city is very religious and then it often ends up in those people working together against a certain person who does not meet their 'requirements'. Ridiculous of course.. Hopefully it will only remain that way in a film, and it will not become reality. So yes, that also gave me a feeling of fear when I watched the film. It seemed very realistic..
The only small downside to From Within is that it all seemed a bit childish to me. The main actress is of course a younger girl, but still. There could have been a bit more 'adults' in it.
All in all, not a bad movie!

Watched this one and it wasn't really my thing. The film started promising, but the more the story progressed, the less it interested me. The film seemed to me too much like a mixture of other films such as The Ring and the like. It also didn't seem credible to me, I didn't really get into the story.

From Within is an atmospheric and exciting horror by Phedon Papamichael that takes place in an American rural town. A breeding ground for religious fanatics and other idiots. A place where the supernatural has a pleasant breeding ground. An excellent setting for fun horror.
A nice dark atmosphere in the film. The story is not very original but told tightly and grippingly. Good acting by the main characters. Occasionally a few special effects that work effectively because of their frugality. The direction clearly shows that Papamichael is well versed in cinematography. He only directed a few films, but did the camera work for many well-known works. Films like Sideways (2004), Nebraska (2013) and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023) belong in that list. From Within also has good camera work and is an atmospheric experience.
The characters are teenagers. Yet From Within is not a typical teenage horror. The film is too dark and inaccessible for that. The story is too well thought out and serious for that. The tension simmers too much under the surface for that. The tone is too gloomy for that. Not everything about the film is good, by the way. I already mentioned the story, which is not surprisingly constructed. I also found the Bible fanatics portrayed very stereotypically in their actions and behavior. And the romantic plot also tends towards the ridiculous. Nevertheless, I watched with fascination and enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere.
