L'Homme Qui Venait d'Ailleurs plot

At the end of the 19th century, Doctor Pierre Adélaide, of Martinican origin, arrived in a town in the French countryside to participate in lectures with colleagues and to set up a cabinet. Soon he is confronted with the population, not because of racism, but because of their fear of the foreigner. His practice remains anxiously empty. But by saving the mayor's daughter from certain death, he gradually begins to gain the trust of the local residents.
