On the Road with the Red God: Machhendranath plot

Every 12 years, inspired believers pull a 20-meter-high, unwieldy float through the Kathmandu Valley, bearing a mysterious god worshiped by Hindus and Buddhists. The journey takes months and is preceded by elaborate rituals and animal sacrifice. The success of the whole venture requires very good cooperation and strict adherence to the rituals of building, blessing and pulling the chariot. But the festival is a battlefield full of harsh reality where alternating struggle and solidarity prevail. So every 12 years it's the same question: will the trip be a success or not?
