The Scoundrel plot
Anthony Mallare uses his position as an influential publisher to break as many hearts as possible. When he seduces the poet Julie Haydon and shortly afterwards leaves him for someone else, she puts a curse on his head: she prays that he will die and that no one will mourn him. A week later, Anthony is killed in a plane crash. He ends up in purgatory and gets a second chance: if he can find someone who will weep for him, his soul will be saved.
