The incredible 1972 survival story of the Uruguayan rugby team, who survived a plane crash in the Andes for more than ten weeks on a four thousand meter high glacier. 35 years later, the story is still known. And not just because they ate human flesh. The director travels with a number of survivors (of the original 45 passengers, sixteen boys return home alive) to the scene of the disaster. Seated in the Valley of Tears, the men tell how they got through endless weeks on the unreachable glacier with nothing more than cigarettes, a radio and the shelter of the wreck.
