Another fun film from the comedy duo Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The story is well put together and visually the film could also be there. Furthermore, there is of course more than enough to laugh about the jokes and antics that Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy play and of course in the situations in which one ends up (usually followed by a nice comment from Oliver Hardy).

Still one of the better "Dikke en den Dunne".

Of course with the overclassical stuff of the two : Oliver who, naive and self-assured, goes to do the job for a while but eventually becomes the victim of friend Stan's clumsiness.

Some of their films are very mediocre but this time there are some funny scenes like this one on the banks of the Seine, their ignorant behavior towards the military government, the escape ("Where are we going ?" - "We're making our escape" - "Is it allowed ?"), the certainly successful flight scene with an original ending in the end. The fact that you also have to endure the repetitive situations of head-butting, stumbling and pouring water is not so bad. In the end you have to laugh about it. It's part of it now.

Seen it a long time ago, and after the review it added half a point. Especially with

thanks to the many verbal jokes, which must have eluded me at the time. The airplane scene

was most important to me. But the highlight for me was already at the beginning, when Hardy

because of heartbreak wants to end it by drowning. Laurel: Are you sure

what are you doing? Have you been drowned before?

To his horror, the inseparable soul mate Laurel has to come along. How the Fat do that

de Dunne manages to persuade, is downright moving. Only, just as every enterprise was doomed to failure with the nerds as always, the attempt at a slump in the depths also turned out to be

no sinecure. After an idiotic philosophizing about reincarnation and the hassle with a big stone

that has to serve as a drowning element, Hardy is tired of chatting now: You are wasting

my time. If that's not melancholy humor...

Later in the film, there is also plenty of fun and comical to experience.

Memory sometimes seems to do strange things to you. In my memory, both

Laurel and Hardy return as horses, and talk to each other as such. So it turned out

to be just a little different.
