"All I want is someone to tell me what is good, and someone to tell me what is bad."

Strong movie.

Bret Easton Ellis continues to spread a message of immorality that is especially prevalent among the decadent groups who are only concerned with seeking pleasure.

The world is a place where people don't know what is right or wrong anymore because they are completely corrupted. No one is happy and everyone only thinks of themselves.

The film itself is also shot very tightly with indeed a kind of dreamy hypnotic atmosphere. Combination of music, slowness and use of color is something I appreciate in this.

The actors completely convince me that they are spoiled rich children.

Enough money at your disposal to do whatever you want. What do you have to do then?

Partying, fucking and using drugs. Family is only a means or an obligation to achieve something. Sex is emotionless, you don't have real friends. Values and norms are fading. Everyone is superficial. Everyone is spoiled and no one is happy.

That's pretty much what the movie wants to say. You don't necessarily need this film to find out, but I think the time frame and the characters come across very well.

Bret Easton Ellis I think his books are all poorly filmed. I also read that crucial elements from his book are missing in this. I've only readAmerican Psychoand that movie is an episode of the Teletubbies compared to the book. I will also read this book one day and the rating will go down.

For the rest I thought it was a cool film and the message came across reasonably well.

RIP Brad Renfo

I couldn't do much with this I must say. It may be by the same writer as American Psycho, but it makes for a completely different film.

Empty is indeed the right word. A number of storylines are followed, almost all of which are not really interesting and in the end also remain quite unfinished. The story about Chris Isaak and his son is by far the most fascinating. Isaak also plays strongly, as does Mickey Rourke, although his story does not fit into the whole at all.

The others are clearly less and I think someone like Thornton is downright bad acting. The positives are few, but the atmosphere is fairly well portrayed. Amber Heard is also pleasant to watch, but that's about it.

As a drama, The Informers is not convincing at all, but I haven't been able to discover humor or anything else in it either. All very mediocre, and should not even be in the shadow of American Psycho.

1,5*

The film starts quite stylishly with appropriate music. The poster is promising with several well-known names. Script by Bret Easton Ellis who brought us American Psycho. Different storylines that hopefully one day come together. How can you want to say so much without finally saying anything. The whole thing turned out to be a boring movie. The beautiful beginning is far from enough to save the film. So much more could have been done here...
