Pikovaya Dama plot
During a game of cards, Narumov tells his friends a story about his grandmother, a countess. As a young woman, she once incurred huge gambling debts, which she cleared by learning a card method that guaranteed her to win. One of Narumov's friends becomes so intrigued by the story of the Countess and her secret that he enters into a relationship with her young servant Lizaveta, hoping to gain access to the Countess through her.
