Brown on Resolution plot

Years after being born, through a slip between his mother and a naval officer, Brown enlists in the Royal Navy during World War I and washes ashore on the distant Galapagos island of Resolution after the cruiser HSM Rutland on which he served sank. Due to his heroism and his marksmanship, he single-handedly manages to leave the German battleship SMS Zeithen in the harbor of the island with an ordinary rifle, where he waits for urgent repairs. Shortly afterwards, a British warship, led by his father he does not know, arrives to sink the enemy ship. This action makes Brown a hero, but at what cost?
