Les Démons de l'Aube plot
In 1944, off the coast of Tunisia, a commando is busy preparing for a landing in France. Their lieutenant, Claude Legrand, is appreciated by all. He was able to inspire the awe of discipline without forgoing a certain human warmth. One day at the construction site he meets someone whose face is not unknown to him: Serge Duhamel. He remembers meeting the man in the Stuttgart station in 1941. He had then, without any explanation, entrusted him with a numbered document that had to be delivered to a certain address. Legrand was a newly freed prisoner of war at the time and went back to his own villa in Toulon to visit his wife Simone. But he discovered that she had deceived him and took advantage of his confusion to steal and destroy the secret document. Some time later, Duhamel entered Legrand's villa one night and accused him of having killed several of the resistance. Legrand had then refused to say anything about Simone and was shot. Now Legrand hesitates to take on Duhamel, but in the end he takes him into his command anyway, along with two other men. He soon begins to notice that Duhamel is out for revenge.
