The story offers enough mystery, suspense and has a nice cast. You shouldn't expect many kills, but the story is fun to follow. There are a lot of suspects who could be the mysterious killer. However, there are a few strange storylines in the story such as the entry of Gisèle (Françoise Prévost), the relationship between Ivan (Germano Longo) and Katty (Rossella Bergamonti) where nothing is actually involved, the very good and naive new nurse Mary (Barbara Wilson ) and the entrance of Lizabeth's (Mary Young) sister (Delfi Mauro). The latter becomes clearer towards the end and has to do with the unknown person who resides in the upper part. William Berger as Dr. Vance plays a solid role and the hospital with all its corridors and rooms is a perfect location. 6.5/10

Early giallo. Atmospheric film thanks to gothic setting and the effective use of colors and lighting. The latter through many chiaroscuro effects. Excellent plot and acting. The deformed lady in the attic seems like a classic for such films. Good makeup performance in her case. Orchestral score with a motif on reverb electric guitar in between: very successful.
