Shadows of the Mind plot

Elise, a young woman is released from a mental institution because her health has improved. She is taken home in a black limousine and already during the ride voices in her head tell her that she should have stayed in the clinic. She is also plagued by a disturbing memory and has nightmares in which she hears people shouting her name in a boat on a river. Apparently Elise saw her parents drown and feels responsible for what happened even though she can't swim. The only people she has contact with are her unkind stepbrother and a psychiatrist who cares so much about his patients that it drives his fiancée crazy. One day, Leland, the eccentric gardener, watches her undress. However, it will cost him dearly.
