Reasonable sci-fi that manages to be especially surprising for an hour. Also a film that weakens towards the end in tension and atmosphere. And a film that unfortunately fails to maintain the level of surprise as the film gets bogged down in obligatory action scenes and cheap feel-good towards the end.

A calm start puts you in an expectant mood. Very quiet, almost rippling, we get used to it. Time to get into the movie, time to look around. It is also a start that is immediately filled with question marks. Fine.

The side the film chooses leads to a story with twists and turns. A story with unexpected angles. Brutally exciting. Surprising. Quite fun.

The story is interesting enough, but after a while it suffers from slump moments. These are the moments when the brooding subcutaneous tension is exchanged for visible tension evoked by quarreling, pursuit or shooting. Those scenes backfire on the pleasant viewing state. There are many such moments in the second half of the film. The brutal action then very unpleasantly breaks through the fine dormant tension that makes the film so intensely experienced. Towards the end, those moments become more intense and more frequent. With a shock you realize that you have no choice but to move along because otherwise a new chapter of the film will pass you by. Moving along requires more and more concentration and is less and less successful.

Not a very typical sci-fi. Sometimes the film seems more like a romantic drama. Sometimes the shooting and chasing action also prevails. Despite the added elements from other genres, the sci-fi remains the basis of the story. That grip is there.

Strong first part, less so second.

Collins already said it, when the film contains mystery, the film is at its best. Little by little, it becomes clear little by little. By that time the disclosure is no longer a disclosure, but an addition. Unfortunately, after that the film falls into mediocre action and standard romantic frills. Fortunately against the background of a nice sci-fi.

Oh, and of course extra points for Clara Lago, who I've secretly fallen in love with since La Cara Oculta.

3*

Pleasant Spanish science fiction work, inventive and surprising. After barely fifteen minutes you think that the film has largely lost its powder, but the makers still have a few things in store for the viewer. Nice protagonists, well made and with a nice menacing soundtrack.
