The Fair Haired Child plot
One day, the young, innocent girl Tara is kidnapped by a man, who puts her in a van and takes her to his house. Here she is put in the cellar by the man named Anton and his wife Judith. Here Tara meets the young blond boy Johnny and together they try to find a way out. But at some point Tara begins to suspect that something is wrong with Johnny.

Initially, I only wanted to see the 'Masters of Horror' contributions from John Carpenter, Takashi Miike, and Dario Argento, but the quality is so consistent that I keep watching. This short film is dragged down somewhat by the wooden and cheesy acting. The parents' flashbacks, in particular, are laughably bad. Nevertheless, the supernatural entity in the story is rendered exceptionally coolly with its jerky, unnatural movements. A rare case of CGI that contributes to the uncanny atmosphere without detracting from it. It is just a shame that it is limited to one cool scene where it appears on screen for a long time and one short scene that makes an impression. And I will continue with these short films for a while longer. The next one is Pelts by Dario Argento...!

MOH episode 11.
Not a bad episode in the series. The story is built up nicely, and as soon as Tara makes "contact" with Johnny in the basement, you know something is about to happen. The revelation of Johnny's secret was personally a big disappointment to me. I had hoped for something more effective. The final resolution, however, was good. The monster looked pretty creepy. The acting wasn't great, the scene in the woods was laughable, but all in all, a decent pass.

A surprising, atmospheric contribution from director William Malone. Not exactly the most well-known horror name among his direct competitors in the Masters of Horror series, yet it is his hand that delivers fine work. Cleverly set up in terms of color usage and with a delightfully mysterious plot. These are all points that ideally introduce the finale, even though it does feel as though it isn't quite reaching its full potential. The acting also leaves much to be desired here and there, but when Malone pulls out his freaky angles, that is fortunately quickly forgotten. An original angle as well; other episodes could learn a thing or two from it.
